Governors' Association throughout Hull and East Riding (GAtHER)
What is GAtHER about?
We are the Governors’ Association throughout Hull and East Riding (GAtHER). Formed in 2005, our aim has always been to connect governors with colleagues working in a range of schools; support governors in carrying out their important role and inform governors about local and national developments in governance.
The aims of GAtHER are:
- to provide an independent, democratic forum for governors
- to act as an independent consultative body on behalf of GAtHER member governors and be the vehicle for expressing their collective views
- to foster good relationships with all member schools and to make appropriate representations at local, regional and national levels
- to help promote high standards in the execution of governing body responsibilities
If you are serving as a governor in any school, academy or college, you will find on our website sources of help in understanding your roles and responsibilities. Click on the Resources tab for downloadable materials and News tab to see our latest local and national news of interest to governors. You can also access our Forum to engage in discussion on topics important to governors.
Membership of GAtHER is only £15.00 per governing board per year. For this, all member governors receive our twice-termly e-newsletter GAtHERround, and are eligible for discounted rates at our annual conference and seminars. Click the Members tab to see the list of member schools to check that your school is a GAtHER member. If your school is not listed, click the ‘Join GAtHER’ tab on our homepage now!
